According to the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing and Care Industry, the construction of new units has slowed from about 4% during the Q1 of 2007 to about 2% during Q1 2012. Annual inventory growth (excluding new units) has also slowed but less dramatically. Occupancy has also declined during the same period for independent (92.5 to 88%), assisted (91 to 89%), and nursing care (91 to 88%) facilities.
