For-Profit Nursing Homes Lead in Overcharging While Care Suffers – Bloomberg.

Interesting story, Bloomberg references a Nov 2012 report by the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services (DHHS)  charging skilled nursing facilities with an error rate of 25% when submitting Medicare claims, resulting in an overpayment of $1.5 billion in  2009. They then delve into those numbers to find that 30% of for-profit companies erred in claims submission compared to 12% of non-profits. The rest of the story highlights some horror stories and unethical/criminal behavior in for-profit nursing homes which have cost them in court.
