The full 2013 Medicare Payment Program for Skilled Nursing Homes is here. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) increased their payments for services by measuring a basket of costs, similar to the way economists calculate inflation rates (e.g. price of bread, gas, etc.). The reimbursement rates vary by region with some areas seeing a modest .3% increase (rural Pacific) to a 2.7% (urban New England). This follows the unpopular 11% cuts in service the CMS enacted in fiscal year 2012. Those cuts targeted therapy services while payments for non-therapy services increased.
