Is true interdependence possible for a group of people all over 50? Is asking similarly aged people to monitor each other realistic? What happens when the honeymoon wears off; what is binding this group together? The report doesn’t say but a strong commitment is necessary for this vision to work. One woman mentions knowing her neighbor’s medical needs should her home attendant service be disrupted, but will she really be able to help? What about community safety and security? How is this different from a cooperative or a condo which have boards? Who will outsource maintenance and vendor contracts? I’m not convinced this model will last past the founder stage.
