The Emeritus trial has ended with the jury finding the company guilty. They have awarded $23 million in damages to the family of the former Emeritus resident, blaming company negligence for her death. The son of the dead woman said Emeritus offered his family $3.5 million before the start of the trial to settle the dispute. The comments of several jurors afterwards should remind AL providers why arbitration agreements are important.
